Contest Tip: Aerobatics

Contesting tip! I have mentioned several hovering recommendations, but remember the basics on aerobatics also. Key point: Center the maneuver as per the rule book description. Key point: Enter the maneuver with level flight and exit the maneuver with level flight, both at the same altitude. It’s easy to be diving into a maneuver and climbing out of a maneuver. Focus on the entry and exit! Key point: A lot of points are lost on the radius of entry and exit being different (and any other radius in the maneuver). Yes, the ground is coming up quickly on that exit and NEVER lose your helicopter to ground interference! Be ahead of the game on that descent and pull out with the same exit radius as the entry radius. Key point: If you have a face wind during your aerobatics, allow some more distance out from the judges, so you don’t get blown over your head. I guarantee you that the judges will downgrade you if you make them move from their chairs! Naturally, the zero line could come into play also. Key point:If you have a back wind during your aerobatics, be aware that if you are pushed out away from the judges, then you will probably get downgraded for being out too far. Comments and discussion welcome!
