Contesting tip! For those who are considering trying competition flying in 2024, try to get a competition buddy pilot to join in the fun. So many advantages to having someone to practice with and to help each other improve. First, you can each critique the other on the practice sessions. This is very important to improve the accuracy and pace of the manuevers. Second, your buddy will bug you about going out to practice. Again, an important point, as practice (with good critque) is important. Third, you will have someone to travel with and share travel expenses. Important for your safe travels and cost of traveling. Fourth, you have a caller with you to announce the manuevers to the judges during the competition, who you are comfortable with while you are competing. Fifth, competition is now in your blood and you don’t want your buddy pilot to beat you, so you will practice more! Sixth, your competition buddy might see things that other pilots are doing that you miss and now you both are smarter in competition. Anyone else have thoughts of the great thing about having a competition buddy? Don’t dispair if you don’t have a competition buddy at home, because at a contest, we are all competition buddies!
